Aston Villa youngster Andre Green was making his first appearance for Portsmouth in more than two months.

A number of Portsmouth fans took to Twitter to praise Andre Green after the Aston Villa loanee marked his return to Kenny Jackett’s side by scoring in the 3-2 EFL Trophy win over Tottenham on Tuesday.
Green has endured a difficult start to life with Pompey. He made two appearances for the League One side following his loan switch in the summer, but then sustained an injury that kept him out for more than two months.
The winger made his return to the side for the game against Spurs at Fratton Park. Pompey had already qualified for the next stage of the competition, but another win would secure top spot in their group.
And Green was the man to set them on their way to that win. He poked the ball home from close range shortly after half-time to equalise after the visitors had broken the deadlock in the first-half.

The goal will probably not be one that Green will be adding to his highlight reel, but it will certainly mean a lot to the 20-year-old. Not only did it help quickly remind the supporters why they need to be excited about the rest of his loan spell, but it also came against a club linked with a potential move for him during the previous January window – as reported by The Sun.
And in response to his goal and display, several Portsmouth fans were on social media suggesting that they were delighted for the starlet and looking forward to the rest of his spell before he returns to Villa.

Here is what some of the Pompey fans made of Green’s impact…
