Aston Villa winger Andre Green has joined the League One side on loan for the rest of the season.
A number of Portsmouth fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight after the club confirmed on their official website that they have signed Andre Green on loan from Aston Villa for the rest of the season.
It has been a great start to the campaign for Pompey. Kenny Jackett’s men currently find themselves third in League One having won four and drawn one of their opening five games.
But they have seemingly sent out a warning to the rest of their rivals with the announcement that they have agreed a deal to loan Villa youngster Green until next summer.
Green is one of the most exciting players in the Villans’ ranks and it is actually a major surprise that Steve Bruce has decided to loan him out for the campaign. He faced a lot of competition to force his way into the side – especially after the signings of Anwar El Ghazi and Yannick Bolasie – but his pre-season form suggested that he could have made a serious impact if given a chance this year.
It is also something of a shock that he has been sent into League One, and it appears to be a serious coup for Portsmouth. And the fans appear to realise that.
Many of the supporters on social media are delighted with the news of Green’s arrival. Some have suggested that it could be the signing that clinches the title for Portsmouth.
