Portsmouth defeated Crawley Town 3-0 at Fratton Park in Saturday’s League One clash.
The two teams came into the match even on points, but it was Portsmouth who came out on top, and indeed they were good value for their win.
Pompey took the lead in the 9th minute through summer signing Curtis Main’s first goal for the club, as he converted Enda Stevens’ cross.
Three minutes later, Main’s strike partner Gary Roberts doubled the lead as he capitalised on a defensive error by Crawley’s Alex Davey.
Main added his second in the 37th minute after Milan Lalkovic’s shot was parried into his path with the gaping goal only six yards away.

The sides shared possession equally, but Pompey were far more effective in attack, crafting 15 attempts on goal of which four were on target.
As a result of the win, Pompey move into 4th place in the League Two table, whilst Crawley slip down to 13th.
Pompey fans took to Twitter to celebrate what was an impressive win for their charges, with positive vibes throughout the club at the moment. Having fallen to League Two from the Premier League in the past seven years, there is now genuine belief that the club can arrest its slide and climb up the football league once more.
Portsmouth are next in action week Saturday when they welcome 22nd-placed Wycombe to Fratton Park.
