HITC Sport understands Wigan are set to win the race for Caridff midfielder Anthony Pilkington.

Wigan are poised to beat Championship rivals Ipswich Town to the signing of Cardiff City midfielder Anthony Pilkington, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Ipswich were hoping to sign Pilkington to boost their squad as Paul Lambert looked to be reunited with his former Norwich City player.
However, Wigan have made a late move for Pilkington and they are now on the verge of luring the Republic of Ireland international to the DW Stadium.
Wigan boss Paul Cook is keen to bolster his side’s attacking options in this month’s transfer window and he sees Pilkington as a valuable addition to his plans.

Pilkington has not featured at all for Neil Warnock’s side this season after being named in the club’s 25-man Premier League squad at the start of the campaign.
The 30-year-old is out of contract at Cardiff in the summer and the Bluebirds are ready to cancel his contract to allow him to leave for free.
