HITC Sport understands Wigan eye Shrewsbury star Beckles.

Wigan Athletic are lining up a move for Shrewsbury Town defender Omar Beckles, HITC Sport understands.
Wigan are planning ahead for next season back in the Championship and Beckles has emerged on their radar after impressing for Shrewsbury this season.
Beckles joined Shrewsbury last summer from Accrington and he quickly established himself as a key man in Paul Hurst’s side.

The 26-year-old made 47 appearances in all competitions for Shrewsbury, helping them reach the League One play-off final only to lose Rotherham United.
Beckles, who primarily played at left-back this season, was named in the EFL League One team of the season after catching the eye for Shrewsbury this term.

Wigan are now ready to pounce for Beckles and offer him the chance to move to the Championship.
Latics boss Paul Cook is keen to strengthen his defensive options for next season and the fact that Beckles can play at left-back as well as centre-back makes him an attractive proposition.
