HITC Sport understands West Brom are keen on Burnley forward.
West Bromwich Albion are weighing up a move for Burnley striker Ashley Barnes before the close of the transfer window, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Barnes’ future at Burnley has been the subject of speculation following the club record arrival of Chris Wood from Leeds United earlier this month.
The 27-year-old helped Burnley secure Premier League survival last season scoring six goals and laying on three assists in 27 games for the club.
However, he has dropped down the pecking order in Sean Dyche’s plans since the arrival of Wood and Jon Walters this summer.
Barnes has yet to start a game in the Premier League so far this season and his only start came in the League Cup victory over local rivals Blackburn Rovers.
West Brom boss Tony Pulis is thought to be an admirer of the hard-working forward and feels he would ideally fit his style of player at the Hawthorns.
West Brom are short of cover up front with Jose Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez the only recognised strikers at the club and Pulis could test Burnley’s resolve over Barnes before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
