Watford are closing in on the signing of Swedish goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg with the player in England for a medical, HITC Sport understands
The 18-year-old shot-stopper is is already established as a key first-team member, playing in 29 of IFK Gothenberg’s 30 league games last season.
Dahlberg started his career Alvangens IK in 2013 before earning a move to Gothenburg in 2015 and he has represented Sweden at all youth levels up to Under-21s.
Scouts from a number of Europe’s top clubs have been alerted to Dahlberg’s potential with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton, Napoli and RB Leipzig all monitoring his progress.

However, Watford have moved quickly to agree a deal in the region £2.9million with Gothenburg for the talented teenage goalkeeper.
Watford are looking to bolster their goalkeeping options for the future and they see Dahlberg as a No.1 in the making.
Heurelho Gomes, Orestis Karnezis and Daniel Bachmann are the current first-team stoppers at Vicarage Road, but the club are keen to find a long-term replacement for Gomes and feel Dahlberg fits the bill.
Watford could sign Dahlberg before next week’s transfer deadline and then loan him back to Gothenburg.
