HITC Sport understands Sheffield United are open to offers for striker.
Sheffield United are willing to let striker James Hanson move on in the January transfer window with a number of clubs chasing his signature, HITC Sport understands.
Hanson has found himself well down the pecking order at Bramall Lane with Billy Sharp, Leon Clarke and Clayton Donaldson all ahead of him in Chris Wilder’s first-team plans and he has been unable to break into the side with the team riding high in the Championship.
The 30-year-old joined United last January from Bradford City and helped the club win promotion to the Championship.
However, his first-team opportunities have been limited this season and a number of clubs have been monitoring his situation.
Hanson has made just one start in the EFL Cup and one brief cameo appearance off the bench in the Championship and the player would be interested in a move away in search of regular first-team football at this stage of his career.
Hanson’s agent, Clive Hart, has confirmed that Sheffield United are willing to let the forward move on in January and that several clubs have already expressed an interest in him.
“James has had a discussion with Sheffield United and they have indicated they are happy to let him leave on January for the right offer,” Hart told HITC Sport.
“James has loved his time playing under Chris [Wilder] and Alan [Knill] but he accepts if he is not going to be playing he needs to go elsewhere in search of regular first-team football.
“A number of clubs have contacted Sheffield United about his availability and I have also spoken to several interested sides so we will see what happens in January.”
