HITC Sport understands a number of Championship and League One clubs are chasing Oxford United defender Ricardinho.

Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United are eyeing a move for Oxford United defender Ricardinho, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Ricardinho, who joined Oxford United last summer on a free transfer from top Azerbaijan side Gabala, has turned down the offer of an extended deal at Oxford alerting his suitors to his possible availability during this summer’s transfer window.
The Brazilian’s performances at left-back and left wing last season were one of the few bright sparks in an otherwise difficult season for the U’s, winning their Player’s Player of the Season award in the process and earning his place as a fans’ favourite at the Kassam Stadium.

Ricardinho made 39 appearances in all competitions for Oxford United in his debut season, chipping in with three goals and five assists for the side.
The former Malmo defender’s performances last term caught the eye of many clubs higher up the football pyramid with Birmingham, Wigan and Rotherham all interested in Ricardinho, as well as a host of League One clubs.

Ricardinho, who started his career in his native Brazil with Coritiba, first moved to Europe in 2009 with Swedish side Malmo.
Losing Ricardinho would come as a big blow to Karl Robinson’s plans as he looks to improve on a disappointing campaign last season.
