HITC Sport understands Sunderland have agreed a deal for former Everton defender Jack Bainbridge.

Sunderland have signed former Everton and Swansea defender Jack Bainbridge on a free transfer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Bainbridge joined Swansea last summer on a one-year deal after leaving Everton following five years at Goodison Park.
Bainbridge came through the ranks at Everton and played for the club’s Under-18s and Under-23s during his time at Goodison Park, but never broke into the first-team.

The talented central defender made just two appearances for Swansea’s Under-23s side last season, but failed to feature in the first-team.
The 20-year-old has now opted to leave Swansea following the expiration of his contract and he has linked up with Sunderland.

A number of Football League clubs have expressed an interest in Bainbridge, but Sunderland have moved quickly to offer him a move to the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland boss Jack Ross sees Bainbridge as a potential star in the making and he has offered a two-year deal to make the move to Wearside.
