HITC Sport understands Stoke have tabled a £9m bid for Burnley striker Sam Vokes.

Stoke City have launched a £9million bid for Burnley striker Sam Vokes as they look to land the Wales international before the transfer deadline, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
New Stoke boss Nathan Jones is keen to strengthen his attacking options before Thursday’s transfer deadline and he has identfied Vokes as his top target.
Jones is looking to bring in a proven goalscorer as he looks to turnaround Stoke’s fortunes and make a late push for the play-offs.
Vokes has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in Burnley’s starting XI so far this season with Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes ahead of him in the pecking order.

The 29-year-old, who was on the bench for Saturday’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester City, has made 14 starts this season with another 14 appearances off the bench in all competitions.
Burnley may consider cashing in on Vokes should they find a suitable replacement before the close of the transfer window.
Vokes, who only signed a new three-year contract at Burnley in October, has spent the last seven years at the club after joining from Wolves and has helped them twice win promotion to the Premier League.
