HITC Sport understands Southend have handed young star Klass a new deal.

Southend United midfielder Michael Klass has agreed a new contract at Roots Hall, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Klass joined Southend last summer following his release from Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
The all-action midfielder made his first-team debut in the EFL Trophy last season against Gillingham and made one further appearance against Reading in the same competition.

Klass is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at Southend and Shrimpers boss Chris Powell plans to give him a more prominent role in the first-team ahead of next season.
The 19-year-old has impressed Powell since he took charge at Southend and the former Charlton boss sees Klass a potential star in the making.

News of Klass’ new deal will come as a welcome boost to Southend as they plan ahead for the future and give younger players the chance to establish themselves in the first-team.
Southend have been busy so far in this summer’s transfer window as Powell wants to build a side capable of challenging for promotion from League One next season.
