Sivan Widmer in action for Udinese
Southampton are looking to bolster their full-back options during this month’s transfer window and Widmer has emerged on their radar after impressing for Udinese in the last couple of seasons.
The 24-year-old has made over 120 appearances for Udinese since being signed by as a teenager from Swiss club Aarau.
Widmer has also broken into the Switzerland national team and has won nine caps for his country since making his debut in 2014.
Widmer is regarded as one of the most consistent performers in Serie A and his performances have not gone unnoticed among bigger clubs.

Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Widmer recently as they have been keeping tabs on the attacking full-back should they end up losing Hector Bellerin.
Southampton are keen to inject some fresh impetus into their squad as they battle to avoid a relegation fight and they are weighing up a move for Widmer.
Widmer still has two-and-a-half years to run on his contract at Udinese and they are reluctant to lose him this month, but they are bracing themselves for interest before the close of the transfer window.
