A number of Championship and League One sides are tracking Shrewsbury Town defensive duo Joe Riley and Junior Brown, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Full-back pair Riley and Brown have impressed in recent weeks with the duo playing instrumental roles in Shrewsbury’s fine run of form to boost their survival hopes.

The League One strugglers are on a six-match unbeaten run and Riley and Brown helped them to an impressive 1-0 win at promotion hopefuls Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

Brown, who has been converted from a winger to a left-back at Shrewsbury, has been a virtual ever-present this season, making 37 appearances in all competitions and chipping in with four goals.

Right-back Riley has made 25 appearances so far this season and he has established himself as a key player at Greenhous Meadow since joining the club from Bury last summer.

Riley began his career with Bolton Wanderers and he made three Premier League appearances for the club in the 2011-12 season, while Brown joined Shrewsbury in 2015 from Mansfield Town.

The performances of Riley and Brown have not gone unnoticed among clubs in the Championship and League One and Shrewsbury could face a battle to keep hold of the pair in the summer when the transfer window reopens.
