Yeovil Town boss Darren Way has emerged as a contender for the vacant manager’s job at Shrewsbury, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Shrewsbury have been without a manager since Micky Mellon left to take charge at Tranmere Rovers earlier this month.

Danny Coyne has been in caretaker charge of Shrewsbury since Mellon’s departure, but the club have lost their last three games to leave them rock bottom of the League One table and five points adrift of safety.
A number of names have been linked with the vacancy at Shrewsbury, but several candidates have been ruled out of the running for the role at the Greenhous Meadow.

Way has come into the reckoning after impressing at Yeovil following his appointment as Paul Sturrock’s successor last December.
The 36-year-old is highly-regarded in coaching circles after guiding the club to survival against all the odds with the club rooted to the bottom of the table when he took over.

Way guided Yeovil to a superb run in the second half of the season to lead the club well clear of the relegation zone and he was twice nominated for Manager of the Month last January and March.
Yeovil currently sit in 15th spot in League Two, just three points off the play-offs having won their last two games to climb up the table.
