HITC Sport understands Sheffield United close on striker.
James Hanson of Bradford City celebrates scoring
Sheffield United have agreed a fee with Bradford City for striker James Hanson, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder confirmed after Saturday’s draw with Gillingham that the Blades had lodged a bid for Hanson as they look to bolster their attacking options before the close of the transfer window.
Hanson missed Bradford’s 1-1 draw with Millwall on Saturday as the club consider the offer from League One rivals Sheffield United and sources have told HITC Sport that the fee has been agreed.
Bradford are reluctant to lose the long-serving forward, but have reluctantly accepted United’s offer for Hanson with his deal due to expire at Valley Parade at the end of the season.
Hanson, 29, has been at Bradford City for nearly eight years after signing from non-league Guiseley in 2009.
Hanson has scored four goals in 20 appearances this season and has 91 in total in more than 300 appearances for Bradford.
Wilder has targeted Hanson to fire the goals to keep his League One leaders’ promotion bid on track and it seems the striker is on the verge of a move to Bramall Lane.
