Former West Bromwich Albion forward Stephane Sessegnon is in talks with Montpellier over a return to France, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Versatile forward Sessegnon is a free agent after being released by West Brom in the summer following three seasons at the Hawthorns.
A number of clubs, including Burnley have been weighing up moves for Sessegnon, but Montpellier are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by luring the player back to Ligue 1.

Sessegnon made 92 appearances for West Brom in all competitions during his time at the club, scoring eight goals for the Baggies, but he was not offered a new deal when his expired at the end of last season.
The 32-year-old has spent the last five seasons in England after joining Sunderland in 2011 from Paris Saint Germain.
Montpellier are keen to bolster their attacking options and they see free agent Sessegnon as somone who will be a valuable addition to their squad.
Montpellier have won just one of their opening six Ligue 1 games so far this season and currently lie in 13th spot in the table
