HITC Sport understands Scunthorpe are closing in on non-league winger Andy Dales after he impressed at Jamie Vardy’s V9 academy.

Scunthorpe United have agreed a fee with Mickleover Sports for midfielder Andy Dales after he caught their eye during Jamie Vardy’s V9 academy earlier this month, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Dales was invited to attend the V9 academy this month as Leicester and England striker Vardy looks to give non-league players the chance to break into league football.

The attacking midfielder impressed during the V9 academy as a number of Football League clubs went to scout potential new signings.
Former Derby trainee Dales has impressed at Evo Stik NPL Premier Division side Mickleover Sports over the last couple of seasons and a number of clubs higher up the football pyramid have been keeping tabs on his progress for some time.
Dales scored over 20 goals for Mickleover Sports last season and was named in the Northern Premier League Premier Division team of the year as well as being called up to the England C squad as reward for his impressive performances.

Scunthorpe are hoping to steal a march on their rivals in the pursuit of Dales by agreeing a fee with Mickleover Sports as they are aware several other sides are preparing moves for the attacking midfielder.
Scunthorpe manager Nick Daws is keen to strengthen his squad as he looks to make another push for promotion next season after missing out in the play-offs last term.
