HITC Sport understands former MK Dons boss is in pole position for Charlton Athletic job.

Charlton Athletic have interviewed Karl Robinson and Gary Caldwell for the vacant manager’s job with former MK Dons chief Robinson in pole position to take over at The Valley, sources close to the club have told HITC Sport.
Charlton are searching for a new manager after Russell Slade was sacked last week after less than six months in charge of the club.
A number of names have been linked with the job, but sources have told HITC Sport that Robinson and Caldwell are the two clear front runners after holding talks with the pair.

Caldwell was sacked as Wigan boss last month after their poor start to the Championship season after the 34-year-old led them to promotion last season.
Former MK Dons boss Robinson left the club last month after six years in charge of the club and he is ready to step back into management.
Robinson is understood to have been interviewed by Charlton after expressing an interest in the role at The Valley and he is thought to have impressed Charlton’s hiearchy with his vision for the club.
Kevin Nugent was in caretaker charge for Saturday’s 2-0 win over Port Vale and he could remain in charge for Tuesday’s clash with Bristol Rovers, but the club are hoping to make an appointment of a new manager this week with Robinson favourite to take charge.
