Bolton Wanderers could miss out on signing Adam Le Fondre on a permanent basis with a number of clubs tracking the free agent, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Le Fondre is a free agent this summer with his contract at Cardiff City expiring next month and the player not being offered a new deal.
The 30-year-old has not featured for Cardiff since January 2015 and spent last season out on loan at Wigan Athletic and Bolton.

Le Fondre joined Bolton at the end of January and played a key role in helping the club win promotion back to the Championship.
The former Reading star scored six goals in 19 games, including one in the 3-0 win over Peterborough which secured promotion to from League One.
Bolton have expressed a desire to sign Le Fondre on a permanent basis, but have so far been unable to strike a deal for the forward.
The news has alerted a number of other clubs to Le Fondre’s possible availability with several Championship and League One sides weighing up a move for the proven striker.
