Norwich City have accepted a bid from Reading for striker Nelson Oliveira, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Reading have identified Portuguese ace Oliveira as a key addition to their side as they look to mount another bid for promotion to the Premier League next season after missing out on the play-off final to Huddersfield last term.

The Royals are among the favourities to win promotion next season and Jaap Stam sees Oliveira as someone who could fire the goals to boost their promotion bid.

Oliveira joined Norwich City last summer from Benfica after impressing on loan at Nottingham Forest the previous season.

The Portugal international scored nine goals in 29 appearances for Nottingham Forest and his performances led Norwich to signing him last summer.

The skilful attacker impressed at Carrow Road last season, netting 15 goals in 32 games in all competitions, despite Norwich’s struggles in the Championship last season.

Norwich face a difficult looking season this campaign after losing a number of key players this summer, including Jonny Howson who was sold to Middlesbrough.

Reading are ready to offer Oliveira an escape route out of Norwich as they look to bring in a proven striker to boost their ambitions of winning promotion to the Premier League next season.
