Reading technical director Brian Tevreden admits summer signing Liam Moore sets the benchmark for the type of players they must bring to the club.

Moore has been a massive success for Reading since his move to the Championship club from Premier League champions Leicester City in the summer.

The deal was a protracted affair for Reading with Leicester rejecting several bids for Moore as they were reluctant to lose the talented centre-back before they finally sanctioned his move to the Madejski Stadium.

Moore has made 15 appearances so far this season for Royals and has established himself already as a key member of Jaap Stam’s plans at Reading.

The 23-year-old has helped Reading climb up to fourth place in the Championship table after a three-match winning run, with the former England Under-21 international helping his side keep clean sheets in those games.

Moore played a big role in Leicester`s 2013/14 promotion from the Championship to the Premier League and confidence is growing that Moore could be part of another successful promotion winning side at Reading.

Tevreden, who deals with transfers at Reading, has been impressed by Moore’s impact on and off the pitch and feels the club should look to bring more players of Moore’s ilk if they are to be successful.

“Liam is not only a very good footballer, but also a very good personality,” Tevreden told Get Reading.

“If you see how he works on the training ground every day. He’s one of the first on the pitch and one of the last off it.

“These kind of players are the ones we need, hungry players who are always looking to do more.

“This must be the new standard of the club. Young and hungry players. I’m very happy with Liam.”
