Wycombe Wanderers face a battle to keep hold of midfield star Luke O’Nien with a number of sides weighing up a move for him during this summer’s transfer window, someone close to the club with knowledge of the situation told HITC.

O’Nien enjoyed an outstanding campaign for Wycombe last season as he was instrumental in their promotion from League Two.

The all-action midfielder chipped in with eight goals and four assists in 35 appearances in League Two last season to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the Football League.

O’Nien’s performances at Wycombe over the last three seasons have not gone unnoticed bringing him onto the radar of bigger clubs.

The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Wycombe and the club are bracing themselves for offers for the prized asset this summer.

The likes of Scunthorpe, Luton Town, Doncaster Rovers and Oxford United are all admirers of O’Nien and would like to prise the midfielder away from Wycombe as they look to strengthen their squads ahead of next season.

Wycombe are keen to keep hold of O’Nien as they prepare for life in League One next season, but they know they would find it hard to resist a decent offer for the former Watford player.
