Queens Park Rangers have opened talks with Luke Freeman over a new deal at Loftus Road, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

QPR are determined to tie down the attacking midfielder to a new long-term contract after fending off interest in Freeman during the summer transfer window.

Freeman was the subject of offers from Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers in the summer, but QPR managed to to keep hold of the midfielder after fighting hard to reject the bids for the player.

Freeman has scored two in 10 appearances in all competitions so far this season and QPR are wary of renewed interest in his services when the transfer window reopens in January.

Freeman joined QPR from Bristol City in January 2017 and he has quickly established himself as a key player at Loftus Road.

The former Arsenal youngster has just over 18 months to run on his current contract and QPR are looking to reward him with a new deal.
