HITC Sport understands QPR defender is set to sign new deal.
QPR’s Darnell Furlong in action
Queens Park Rangers defender Darnell Furlong is set to sign a new deal to keep him at Loftus Road, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Furlong’s existing deal expires in the summer and a number of clubs were monitoring his contract situation at QPR.
However, the Championship side have moved to secure Furlong on a new long-term deal to ward off the possibility of the talented defender leaving for nothing when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Furlong recently returned to QPR after being recalled by Ian Holloway from a successful loan spell at Swindon Town earlier this season,
The 21-year-old impressed at Swindon scoring twice and laying on five assists in 25 appearances for the Robins and Holloway called him back to Loftus Road soon after he took over as manager from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Furlong has started QPR’s last two games against Reading and Fulham and he is line for an extended run in the side under Holloway.
Right-back Furlong is highly-regarded at QPR after coming through the ranks at Loftus Road.
Furlong made his debut in the Premier League in the 2014/15 season, making three appearances in the side after catching the eye in the club’s under-21s.
