HITC Sport understands Preston North End have bid accepted for Peterborough defender Hughes.
Andrew Hughes in action for Peterborough United
Preston are poised to sign highly-rated Peterborough United defender Andrew Hughes with the player due for a medical at Deepdale, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Preston have been chasing Hughes all summer and have seen three of their previous bids rejected by Peterborough for the full-back.
However, the Championship club have now agreed a fee with for Hughes and the player has been granted permission to undergo a medical and hold talks with Preston.

Preston have identified Hughes as an ideal replacement for Greg Cunningham following the Irishman’s move to Premier League new boys Cardiff City earlier this month.
Hughes has impressed at Peterborough since joining the club on a free transfer from Newport County in the summer of 2016.

The 26-year-old was a virtual ever-present for Peterborough last season, making 56 appearances in all competitions, and he has established himself as one of the most consistent defenders in the Football League.
Hughes will compete with youngster Josh Earl for a starting spot at left-back in Alex Neill’s plans at Deepdale.
