Woodyard is widely regarded as one of the best young players in the Football League after catching the eye for Lincoln during the last couple of seasons.
Woodyard was instrumental in Lincoln’s run to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup in 2017 and was also key in Lincoln reaching the League Two play-off semi-finals this season only to lose to Exeter.
The 25-year-old made a staggering 56 appearances in all competitions for Lincoln this season and his dynamic performances brought him to the attention of clubs higher up the football pyramid.
Lincoln were reluctant to lose Woodyard this summer, but with the player entering the final year of his contract and also expressing a desire to play at a higher level they had no choice but to sell him.
