Oxford United defender Ricardinho is set to snub interest from other English clubs to join Dutch side FC Twente, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United were all interested in Ricardinho, but FC Twente have made him an offer and the Brazilian has decided to make the move to Holland.
Ricardinho, who joined Oxford United last summer on a free transfer from top Azerbaijan side Gabala, turned down the offer of an extended deal at Oxford alerting his suitors to his availability during this summer’s transfer window.
The Brazilian’s performances at left-back and left wing last season were one of the few bright sparks in an otherwise difficult season for the U’s, winning their Player’s Player of the Season award in the process and earning his place as a fans’ favourite at the Kassam Stadium.
Ricardinho made 39 appearances in all competitions for Oxford United in his debut season, chipping in with three goals and five assists for the side.
The former Malmo defender’s performances last term caught the eye of many clubs higher up the football pyramid with Birmingham, Wigan and Rotherham all interested in Ricardinho, as well as a host of League One clubs.
Ricardinho, who started his career in his native Brazil with Coritiba, first moved to Europe in 2009 with Swedish side Malmo.
