Bradford City defender James Meredith has rejected the club’s offer of a new deal and looks set to move to the Championship, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Meredith’s contract expires next month and the club offered the left-back a new deal last week after their League One Play-Off final defeat to Millwall.
Bradford are desperate to keep hold of Meredith with the 29-year-old establishing himself as one of the best full-backs in the Football League.
Meredith has been a consistent performer for Bradford since joining the club from York City in the summer of 2012 and he has broken into the Australia squad during his time at Bradford.

Meredith made 48 appearances in all competitions for Bradford this season and his performances saw him named in both the PFA and EFL League One Teams of the Year.
A number of clubs higher up the football pyramid have been monitoring Meredith’s contract situation at Valley Parade and they are now ready to move for him following Bradford’s failure to win promotion to the Championship.
HITC Sport understands Meredith is poised to join a Championship club as soon as he returns from his summer holiday.
The news will come as a major blow to Bradford boss Stuart McCall as he wanted to keep hold of his best players as he plots another bid for promotion next season.
