HITC Sport understands former England boss is not interested in the Scunthorpe job.
Former England manager Steve McClaren has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant manager’s job at League One Scunthope United, HITC Sport understands.
McClaren was mentioned as a possible target by Scunthorpe chairman Peter Swann as he looks to bring in a replacement for Graham Alexander following his surprise sacking last weekend.
However, HITC Sport understands McClaren is not interested in the role at Glanford Park and is set to wait until the end of the season before making making a decision on his next move.
McClaren has been linked with the manager’s job at Ipswich Town should Mick McCarthy decide to leave Portman Road this summer, and it appears the experienced boss will wait until the end of the season to weigh up his options.
The 56-year-old’s last management job was at Derby having been sacked by the Championship club last March.
McClaren has been out of work since his role as a coaching consultant at Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv in December and he is understood to be keen to get back into management in England.
Scunthorpe are eager to make a quick appointment to replace Alexander, with the club sitting in fifth spot in League One and well-placed to reach the play-offs at least.
