HITC Sport understands Newcastle United midfielder Olivier Kemen is set to leave the club to join Lyon.
Lyon have agreed a deal to sign Newcastle midfielder Olivier Kemen, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
The France Under-19 international has been unable to break into the Newcastle first-team and Steve McClaren is happy to let him move on.
Kemen is highly-regarded in his homeland having captained his country at this summer’s Under-19s European Championships and has previously been linked with Monaco, but now Lyon have moved to set up a deal for the player.
The 19-year-old has only featured once for the Under-21s this season during a defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers and with one-year left on his contract Newcastle have decided to cash-in on the midfielder.
Kemen joined Newcastle from Metz as a 16-year-old and he was tipped as one for the future, but it seems he will return to his native France.
Kemen has been locked in talks with Lyon and underwent a medical at Stade Gerland as the club look to tie up a £500,000 deal before the transfer window closes in France tonight.
