Luton Town are set to sign Barnsley striker Elliot Lee, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Luton have been busy so far in this summer’s transfer window and they are hoping to make Lee their latest new recruit.

The move will see Lee link up with his older brother Olly at Kenilworth Road and it will be return to Luton for Lee after enjoying a loan spell at the club in the second half of the 2014/15 season.

Lee, who is the son of former Newcastle and England midfielder Rob Lee, scored three goals in 11 appearances during his loan stint with the Hatters and the club have continued to keep tabs on him ever since.

The 22-year-old left West Ham last summer for Barnsley after coming through the ranks at the Hammers.

Lee had spells out on loan at Colchester (twice), Southend, Luton, Blackpool during his time at West Ham and he made only seven appearances for the Hammers before leaving last summer.

Lee struggled to hold down a regular place in Barnsley’s starting XI last season, making just six appearances in the Championship and he has decided to move on in search of regular first-team football.

His signing is something of a coup for Luton boss Nathan Jones as he looks to build a side capable of winning promotion out of League Two next season.
