Leicester City have opened talks with midfielder Hamza Choudhury over a new long-term contract, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Leicester are keen to reward the 20-year-old with a new deal as reward for his progress in breaking into the first-team last season and establishing himself in Claude Puel’s plans.
Choudhury has come through the ranks at Leicester and is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at the King Power Stadium.
The all-action midfielder made his first-team debut in the EFL Cup win over Liverpool last September and he went on to make eight further appearances in the Premier League.
Choudhury’s performances won him a lot of praise, with the midfielder standing out in the 3-1 win over Arsenal in May.
Choudhury’s performances at the back end of the season in the Leicester starting XI saw him called up to the England Under-21 side, and he featured in this summer’s Toulon tournament which England won.
Choudhury has carried his fine form into pre-season with Leicester, and the club want to secure him on a new deal with the player having just two years left to run on his current contract.
