Highly-rated Leeds United striker Jack McKay has joined Scottish League One side Airdrieonians on loan
McKay has joined Airdrie on a loan deal until the end of the season, according to the Scottish club’s official website.
The 19-year-old is set to go straight into the Airdrie squad for Monday’s clash with Albion Rovers as Diamonds boss Mark Wilson looks to bolster his side’s attacking options.
Wilson sees McKay as someone who can fire the goals to boost their bid to win promotion from League One with Airdrie currently seven points behind leaders Livingston with a game in hand.
McKay joined Leeds United last January along with his twin brother Paul after impressing for Doncaster Rovers.
The talented forward came through the ranks at Doncaster and made four first-team appearances for the South Yorkshire club before winning his move to Leeds.
McKay has yet to make his first-team debut for Leeds, but has been a regular goalscorer for the club’s development side and he is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at Elland Road.
Leeds boss Garry Monk is happy to loan out McKay so that he can valuable first-team experience under his belt before coming back to challenge for a place in the Leeds first-team.
