Leeds United are considering a surprise move for Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Almen Abdi, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Abdi endured a difficult first year at Wednesday after joining them from Watford last summer.
The Switzerland international made just 16 appearances for Wednesday last season, with only 11 of those coming as a starter.
Abdi spent four years with Watford, scoring 25 goals in 115 league appearances, and he helped them win promotion to the Premier League during the 2014/15 season.

New Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen is looking to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new capaign and Abdi has emerged on his radar.
Wednesday could be willing to listen to offers for Abdi after he failed to nail down a regular spot in Carlos Carvalhal’s plans at Hillsborough.
A number of other clubs in England and abroad are thought to be monitoring Abi’s situation, but Leeds are looking to put themselves in pole position to sign the player if he becomes available.
Abdi would add guile to the Leeds midfield and his experience of winning promotion from the Championship makes him an attractive proposition for the Whites.
