Ipswich Town are weighing up a move for highly-rated Dagenham & Redbridge striker Oliver Hawkins, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Hawkins has impressed at Dagenham & Redbridge since joining the club from National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town last January.
The 23-year-old has scored 14 goals and laid on seven assists in 26 appearances so far this season to help Dagenham to sixth spot in the National League table.
Hawkins is the third highest goal-scorer in the National League and his form has brought him to the attention of a number of clubs higher up the football pyramid.
Brighton & Hove Albion have been linked with a move for Hawkins in the past, but now Championship rivals Ipswich are ready to steal a march in the chase for Hawkins by making a move for the forward in this month’s transfer window.

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy is keen to bolster his attacking options at Portman Road with his side one of the lowest scorers in the Championship this season with just 24 goals in 24 games.
Dagenham & Redbridge are reluctant to lose their star striker Hawkins this month, but they are unlikely to be able to resist a sizeable offer for the player if Ipswich firm up their interest.
