Championship duo Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers are both trying to sign AFC Wimbledon defender Deji Oshilaja before the loan window closes at the end of the month, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Ipswich have been chasing Oshilaja all summer and saw a bid for the central defender rejected on transfer deadline day.

Town boss Paul Hurst is keen to bolster his side’s defensive options before the close of the transfer window and Oshilaja is among his top targets.

Bolton have also expressed an interest in Oshilaja with Trotters boss Phil Parkinson keen to strengthen his squad.

Both clubs have made loan offers with obligations to buy Oshilaja on a permanent basis when the transfer window reopens in January, but League One AFC Wimbledon have rejected the offers.

AFC Wimbledon are reluctant to sell Oshilaja despite the fact they could lose him for free next summer when his contract expires.

The 25-year-old, who joined AFC Wimbledon from Cardiff City in the summer of 2017, would be free to talk to interested clubs in January and sign a pre-contract with any suitors.

It remains be seen if AFC Wimbledon will change their stance on Oshilaja before the loan window closes with both Ipswich and Bolton waiting in the wings to sign him.
