HITC Sport understands Ipswich are poised to sign Peterborough winger Edwards.

Ipswich Town have agreed a deal to sign highly-rated Peterborough winger Gwion Edwards, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony confirmed earlier on Friday via social media that the club had agreed a fee with an unnamed Championship for Edwards and that the Welshman was set for talks with the club.

HITC Sport understands Ipswich are the mystery Championship club in question and that they are poised to secure the 25-year-old’s signature.
Peterborough have reluctantly agreed to sell Edwards as he was in the final year of his contract at London Road.

Ipswich boss Paul Hurst is a big fan of Edwards having coming up against the former Swansea man while he was manager of Shrewsbury Town in League One last season.
The skilful winger has established himself as as one of the best attackers outside the top two leagues after impressing at Peterborough since his arrival from Crawley in the summer of 2016.
Edwards scored seven goals and registered five assists in 33 games in all competitions for Posh last season and he is set to become the club’s third new signing of the summer following the arrivals of Chelsea midfielder Trevoh Chalobah on loan and Jordan Roberts on a free transfer from Crawley.
