HITC Sport understands Huddersfield Town have bid for former Cardiff man.
Guido Burgstaller in action for Austria
Huddersfield Town have launched a bid for Nurnberg striker Guido Burgstaller, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Burgstaller has been outstanding for Nurnberg this season and is currently top goalscorer in 2 Bundesliga with 14 goals in 16 appearances this term.
The 27-year-old’s blistering form has brought him to the attention of a host of clubs during this month’s transfer window and Huddersfield are hoping to lure him back to English football.
Burgstaller had a short spell at Cardiff City joining the club in May 2014 from Rapid Vienna before leaving the following January after struggling to make an impact at the Welsh club.

The Austrian international scored on his Cardiff debut, but made just five appearances in all competitions during his brief stint at the club.
Burgstaller is in the final six months of his contract at Nurnberg and Huddersfield are hoping to persuade the German club to cash-in on him now rather than risk allowing him to see out his contract.
Huddersfield boss David Wagner is keen to bolster his attacking options in this month’s transfer window and sees Burgstaller as someone who could score the goals to fire their promotion bid to the Premier League.
