Luton Town assistant manager Paul Hart is set to link up with Harry Kewell at Notts County as technical director at Meadow Lane, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Notts County revealed last week, following the appointment of Kewell as the club’s new manager, that they planned to bring in an experienced technical director and Hart is the man to fill that role.

Luton were reluctant to lose Hart after helping the club win promotion to League One last season, but have agreed to let him return to Nottingham where he lives.

The 64-year-old has strong links with Notts County having played for and managed the club in a caretaker capacity.

Hart boasts a wealth of coaching experience having spells in charge of Chesterfield, Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Rushden & Diamonds, Portsmouth, Queens Park Rangers, Crystal Palace, Swindon Town and Notts County, plus youth team roles at Leeds United, Pompey and Charlton too.

Kewell knows Hart well having worked with him at Leeds academy when he was coming through the ranks at Elland Road and his experience will prove invaluable to Kewell and the new-look coaching team at Notts County.

Notts County are rock bottom of League Two having picked up just one point from their opening six games and they will be desperate for Kewell and Hart to turn things around quickly after starting the season as one of the promotion favourites.
