HITC Sport understands Middlesbrough close in on striker deal.
Nottingham Forest’s Britt Assombalonga set for move
Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga is on the verge of a move to Middlesbrough, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Assombalonga’s future at Forest has been the subject of speculation all summer with a number of clubs credited with an interest in the powerful forward.
The likes of Burnley and Watford have been linked with a move for Assombalonga, but it looks like ambitious Middlesbrough are in pole position to land the player.

New Boro boss Garry Monk is desperate to bolster his side’s attacking options and he has identified Assombalonga as the man to solve the side’s goal-scoring problems, as their lack of goals played a huge part in their relegation from the Premier League last season.
Assombalonga is a proven scorer in the Championship after netting 30 goals in 47 games for Forest since joining from Peterborough United in the summer of 2014.
Forest have reluctantly agreed to let Assombalonga move on and they will use the funds from his sale to strengthen other areas of the squad.
The player has now been given the green light to hold talks and travel to Teesside for a medical as Middlesbrough look to make the forward their latest signing of the summer.
