HITC Sport understands an unnamed Championship club have had a six-figure bid for Forest Green Rovers striker Christian Doidge rejected.

Forest Green Rovers have rejected an £800,000 offer from an unnamed Championship side for star striker Christian Doidge, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
A number of teams have been chasing Doidge’s signature this summer, with the player regarded as one of the best forwards in the lower leagues.
Doidge scored 25 goals in all competitions last season and he has carried on that fine form this time round, with four goals in Forest Green’s opening five League Two games.
The 26-year-old still has two years to run on his current contract and Forest Green are reluctant to lose their top scorer.

A mysery Championship club have moved to test Forest Green’s resolve to hang on to Doidge by making an offer to sign him on loan, with an obligation to buy for £800,000, but the League Two club have rejected the bid.
Doidge started his career at Southampton as a trainee before spells in the Welsh leagues for Cwmbran Celtic, Croesyceiliog, Barry Town and Carmarthen Town.
He had a spell at Dagenham & Redbridge before joining Forest Green in 2016 and he has gone on to score over 50 goals for Rovers.
