Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Doncaster left Fleetwood just outside the relegation places in League One on goal difference, after they were tipped for a promotion push at the start of the season.
A number of names have been linked with the vacancy at Fleetwood, and Chorley manager Jansen is thought to be under consideration after impressing at the National League North side.
The former Blackburn Rovers and Crystal Palace forward is regarded as one of the most promising young coaches outside the Football League
Jansen almost guided Chorley to a famous FA Cup victory over Fleetwood earlier this season, only for two late goals to spare the League One side’s blushes in the first round clash last November, and they reached the play-offs last season only to lose to Halifax in the semi-finals.
The 40-year-old has been in charge of Chorley since July 2015 and he has a 48 per cent win ratio at the club, bringing him to the attention of a number of Football League clubs, including Fleetwood.
