Ex-West Ham prospect Parfitt-Williams becomes free agent

HITC Sport understands former West Ham United man Djair Parfitt-Williams is eyeing a move back to the UK after leaving Slovenia.

Former West Ham United youngster Djair Parfitt-Williams has cancelled his contract at Slovenian side Rudar Velenje and is keen on a move back to the UK, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Parfitt-Williams is now a free agent having cancelled his contract at Rudar Velenje by mutual consent after just over a year at the Slovenian outfit.

The 22-year-old’s contract was due to expire in 2020 but, after a stand-off between the club and player, all parties have now decided to go their mutual ways.

The skilful attacker impressed during his time in Slovenia, helping Rudar to qualify for the Europa League, and the club rejected several offers from other teams for Parfitt-Williams.

Parfitt-Williams joined West Ham in 2011 at the age of 14 after being scouted playing for the academy side of MLS club San Jose Earthquakes.

The tricky winger was on the fringes of the West Ham first-team under former Hammers boss Slaven Bilic and he made his first-team debut in 2015 in a Europa League qualifier against Lusitans

Parfitt-Williams is now assessing his options, with various clubs in MLS and Scandinavia weighing up moves for the attacker.

The Bermuda-born star, who had interest from the likes Charlton Athletic, Southend and various other Football League clubs prior to his move to Slovenia, may also wait until the summer in an attempt to secure a move back to the UK.
