Cypriot First Division side Karmiotissa FC snap up free agent James Demetriou.
Former Swansea City youngster James Demetriou has joined Cypriot First Division side Karmiotissa FC on a free transfer.
Demetriou was a free agent after his contract at Premier League club Swansea expired earlier this summer.
The 21-year-old joined Swansea in the summer of 2014 after the Welsh club snapped him from Championship side Nottingham Forest.
Demetriou, who signed a two-year deal at Swansea upon his arrival at the club, was a regular for their under-21s, but he failed to feature for the first-team at the Liberty Stadium.
Demetriou was highly regarded within the corridors of power at the Liberty Stadium, but he was just unable to break into the first-team under Garry Monk or Francesco Guidolin.
The forward had a spell out on loan at non-league Wealdstone at the back end of last season and Demetriou scored one goal in three starts for the club and ten appearances in total during the loan stint.
A number of clubs showed an interest in signing Demetriou this summer, but the Australian-born Cyprus under-21 international opted to take up the offer from Karmiotissa FC to try to boost his international aspirations.
