HITC Sport understands Derby are set to beat Middlesbrough to Ipswich forward Martyn Waghorn.

Derby County have hijacked Middlesbrough’s move for Ipswich Town striker Martyn Waghorn with the player due to undergo a medical at Derby on Monday, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Middlesbrough thought they had won the race for Waghorn earlier on Sunday after having an offer accepted by Ipswich for the former Sunderland man.
However, Derby have matched Middlesbrough’s offer and the 28-year-old has decided to join Frank Lampard’s side over Tony Pulis’ team.
Sheffield United have also been in for Waghorn, but Derby have been chasing Waghorn all summer with Lampard keen to add the versatile forward to his squad at the iPro Stadium.

Waghorn was not involved in Ipswich’s opening Championship game of the season on Saturday against Blackburn Rovers with Town boss Paul Hurst revealing after the game the forward was close to a move away.
Ipswich were reluctant to lose Waghorn after he scored 16 goals in 44 Championship games last season following his arrival from Rangers.
Losing out to Derby for Waghorn will come as a major blow to Boro as they look to strengthen their squad with Adama Traore on the verge of a move to Wolves.
