HITC Sport understands Scunthorpe star has turned down new deal.

Scunthorpe United midfielder Stephen Dawson has turned down the club’s initial offer of a new contract, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Dawson’s contract at Scunthorpe expires next month and the club offered him a new deal to extend his stay at Glanford Park.
However, the Irishman has rejected Scunthorpe’s offer and is now weighing up his options.
HITC Sport understands up to as many as 10 clubs have expressed an interest in the experienced midfielder and that Dawson is now talking to those interested parties.
Dawson was a virtual ever-present for Scunthorpe this season as he made 49 appearances in all competitions for the Iron.
The 31-year-old was instrumental in helping Scunthorpe reach the play-offs in League One this season and he scored in last weekend’s play-off semi-final defeat to Millwall.

The combative box-to-box midfielder is sure to have no shortage of offers if he cannot agree a new deal at Scunthorpe with Dawson boasting a wealth of experience.
Dawson, began his career in England at Leicester City’s Academy, before successful spells as captain of Bury, Leyton Orient, Barnsley, Rochdale and now Scunthorpe.
