Coventry City are ready to make Jonson Clarke-Harris their first signing since winning promotion back to League One, HITC Sport understands.
Clarke-Harris joined Coventry on loan from Rotherham on transfer deadline day in January and he helped the club win promotion from League Two, via the play-offs.
The 23-year-old scored three goals and laid on five assists for Coventry during his time at the club and he has done enough to impress Sky Blues boss Mark Robins.
Clarke-Harris is out of contract at Rotherham next month and he is free to leave the club as he will not be offered a new deal by the Millers.
A number of clubs have been monitoring Clarke-Harris’ situation, but Coventry have moved quickly to set up a deal for the talented forward.
Coventry chief Robins is keen to keep Clarke-Harris on board as he feels his experience of playing in League One before will be hugely valuable to his young side next season.

Clarke-Harris began his career with Coventry, graduating from their academy to become the youngest player in City’s history at 16 years and 21 days.
The powerful forward is now set to become Coventry’s first signing of the summer as they plan ahead for next season in League One.
