HITC Sport understands Charlton’s move for West Ham defender is off.
West Ham defender Reece Oxford’s loan move to Charlton has fallen through after Addicks boss vetoed the deal, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Charlton had lined up a move for the talented teenager with West Ham happy to loan out Oxford so that he could get some regular first-team football.
However, Charlton manager Riga has pulled the plug on the proposed loan deal as he was consulted over the signing of the England youth international.
Riga is understood to have vetoed the switch as he was unsure of Oxford and did not know enough about the highly-rated 17-year-old.
The news will come as a major blow to Charlton fans who were hoping to see Oxford join the club to boost their survival hopes.
Oxford has made eight appearances for West Ham so far this season after making his Premier League debut in the first game of the new campaign against Arsenal.
The news has alerted a number of other Championship clubs who are now ready to try and take Oxford on loan from West Ham for the remainder of the season.
