HITC Sport understands Cardiff are poised to sign long-term target Greg Cunningham from Preston.

Cardiff City are in advanced talks to sign Preston North End defender Greg Cunningham and hope to seal a deal inside the next 24 hours, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Cardiff boss Neil Warnock is a big fan of the Republic of Ireland international and tried to sign him last summer, only for Preston to rebuff their interest in the left-back.
Cunningham missed a large chunk of last season with a hamstring injury which sidelined him for four months, but he returned to action last December and is now fully fit again.

Warnock has continued to keep tabs on Cunningham and he has decided to renew his interest in the player as he plans ahead of life in the Premier League next season.
Preston have decided to cash-in on Cunningham with the player enterting the final year of his contract at Deepdale and have given the 27-year-old permission to hold talks with Cardiff and undergo a medical.

Cunningham, who joined Preston from Bristol City in 2015 made 111 appearances for the club and had established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Championship during his time at the club.
Cunningham is in line to become Cardiff’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of Josh Murphy from Norwich City earlier this week.
